Bloodshed in a very basic sense means the shedding of blood. It generally refers to murder of some sort. Bloodshed may also refer to injury but is generally associated with murder. It may refer to the indiscriminate slaughter of people. It denotes the excessive, brutal and almost always savage killing of many people. It refers to some mindless carnage.

There is plenty of bloodshed in battles or war like the two world wars, riots and in killing sprees like the Holocaust for instance. It is unlawful and the person or people guilty can be taken to task for committing a crime of that nature. Bloodshed was also the nickname of a rapper called Derek Michael Armstead who performed in the rap group Children of the Corn until he died in an unfortunate car accident in 1997.
