DAW stands for Digital Audio Workstation. The Digital Audio Workstation is specifically designed to record, edit and playback audio in digital format. One of the most important features of the digital audio workstation is its capability completely manipulate the sounds in the recording in exactly the same way like a word processor that manipulates the words typed in it. One of the basic functions that are used in the arrangement of multi track software's and in much high quality hardware's used for audio recording.

Computer Based DAWs: - these DAWs are software's that are used for as an editor for digital audio, for example; Sonar, Pro Tools and Adobe Audition.
Integrated DAWs: - integrated DAWs mainly specify Mixing Consoles, Digital Interface and control surface in a device.
