What Does Disposed Mean?

Disposed of is a verb. The word disposed of is the past tense of the verb dispose of. Something is said to be disposed of when it has been dealt with or settled finally or conclusively. Since dispose of is a transitive verb, therefore disposed of is the past tense of a transitive verb. In fact, the words disposed of and disposing of are the inflected forms of the word dispose of.

It is also defined as when someone has willingly decided to transfer the control or ownership of a business or its assets to his or her legal heir or to some other party. The names and particulars of the legal heirs of a person, include their share in the property, are mentioned in the will. A will is a legal document which expressed a person's willingness to transfer the powers and control once held by him or her over his business or property or assets to another person appointed by him. It also acts as a piece of documentary evidence in a court of law.

The word disposed is defined as having made preparations and taken all the requisite precautions. A person is said to be disposed to do something when he is ready in every possible way to take the inherent risks involved in doing that act.

It also means apt. The word disposed, when used in this context, is usually followed by the word to (as in apt to). A person is apt to doing something when he is naturally disposed toward or inclined to doing that act.

The words which are closely associated with the words disposed, but do not mean the same as the word disposed, are the words disposed handle and well-disposed. A disposed handle is a handle whose associated relocatable block has been disposed of. The word 'well-disposed' means favourable or favourably disposed. It is the antonym of antagonistic. The government of a country is disposed to the interests of the people when the policies it frames are favourable (and acceptable) to the citizens.
