Delusional is a mistaken perception of reality. In common usage, a delusion can imply harboring fanciful thoughts or living in a make-believe world with false beliefs. It is also a symptom of a mental illness. Bouts of delusion are often accompanied by hallucinations or paranoid feelings.
One can find delusional behaviors among people who are addicted to drugs like cocaine and various kinds of amphetamine. People who are victims of schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease, and Huntington's disease are witnessed to show signs of delusion. Even people who are overtly depressed or suffering from bipolar disorder are known to feel delusional. Some of the common delusions is a fear that someone is secretly plotting to kill him, that there is someone who looks like him and wants to meet him, or at times he fancies that he is a person who has great importance but is unappreciated. Counseling and pyschatric help is needed to get the victim who falls prey to delusions.
