Chaste refers to one who is ethical and honourable with regard to way of thinking and manner of behaviour towards others. A chaste person is a morally straight person who is pure in thought, word and deed. He or she is simplistic in his approach to life.
Chaste is also a word used to describe someone who has not undergone the process of sexual intercourse. He may also be abstaining for intercourse that is ethically wrong, or not allowed by the law or otherwise. For example, a chaste person will not have intercourse until he or she is of age or married.
A person practising celibacy, which is refraining from all sexual activity, may also be called chaste. One may also refrain from intercourse if it is not sanctioned by religion. This is also chaste behaviour.
