Acoustic is a division of physics and basically is the study of sound. A scientist who does research in this field is known as an acoustician. The use of acoustics in technology is known as acoustical engineering.

There is regularly much overlap and contact between the interests of acoustician and acoustical engineers. The word acoustic comes from an ancient Greek word, which meant to be heard. Acoustics is the knowledge related with production, control, transmission, reception and outcomes of sound.

It was started with the study of mechanical vibration and the emission of these vibrations in the course of mechanical waves. The research of sound waves led to physical values which can be used to study all waves. The research of acoustics has been primary to a lot of developments in arts.
