Conquest can be defined as the act of conquering. For instance 'The Aryan conquest of Central Asia took much planning and preparation'. The place, kingdom or country that is conquered is called the conquest and the person, army, or people that are victorious are called the conquerors. Conquest may also refer to success in achieving something difficult for example 'The conquest of outer space'. In relationships the word conquest means a successful seduction or winning the sexual favour or love of someone for example 'Not one of his previous conquests compared to her'.

The Norman Conquest refers to the invasion of England by the Duke of Normandy William the Conqueror in 1066 following the Battle of Hastings. It led to the subjugation of England by the Normans and it is a significant watershed in the history of England.
