Thru is another way of saying through. Thus it is a preposition which means "passing in and out". It also means complete or from beginning to end. It can also mean in at one end and out at the other, from front to back, from top to bottom etc. Through is used in British English while Americans use thru.

This word is pronounced as throo. This word is also often used as an adverb in several cases and as an adjective in several others. Some examples of the usage of this term are "when will you be thru with your exams", "have you gone thru these documents".

Thru is a common abbreviated version of through, used in emails and text messages.

Thru is informal for the word 'through'. The word 'through' means from one end to the other. It can also mean 'to conclude' or 'to put an end to'. The informal use of 'thru' is popularly used in text messaging and other forms of short messaging. There is a slight difference when one conveys the meaning of 'from one end to another', in the UK English and the US English. Here is the difference:
• I worked Monday to Friday last week.(UK English)
• I worked Monday through Friday last week(US English)
Some of the other meanings of through (thru) are: from beginning to the end, during, throughout, from side to side, from end to end etc.

When I saw the word the first time, I was confused, I didn't understand it. "35801 thru 35816", in this sentence, it can't be understood as "passing in and out".
