The suffix 'ics' is used to form nouns and with the use of the word, you can denote the body of facts, principles or knowledge. The suffix is usually used with the nouns that are corresponding to the adjectives.

The word has its uses with many of the popular words and among the most popular words is the name of the subject 'physics'. The word describes about a subject which is considered as the study of the objects in their physical form.

There are some other uses also that the word has formed out of itself. One of the words is 'phonetics' which conveys the idea of study of sound. Phone is a word that is used when you mean to say sound and when you add the word with the suffix 'ics', it makes sound as subject.
