Jerubbaal is the other name for Gideon. He is a judge who finds his appearance in the Book of Judges. He also gets his mention in the Bible. He has been given the name of the Epistle to the Hebrews that means that he sets an example of a man of faith. His name Gideon means the destroyer, a mighty warrior or maybe a feller. The pattern that is stated in all through the book of Judges tells that the people of Israel turned away from God after the peace that was brought in by the victory of Deborah over Canaan. They were allowed at this time to be attacked by the countries neighbouring that were Amalekites and the Midianites. This was the time when Gideon was chosen by God from the tribe of Manasseh in order to free the people of Israel and to criticize idol worship. He was not very sure of the commands of God and also himself, so he had to request for the proof of the will of God as a miracle.
