The word quarrelsome would mean someone is inclined to quarrel or is partial to an argument. Someone who is quarrelsome could also be known as being contentious or belligerent
The word is an adverb and comes from the 13th century English and is based around the word quarrel.
It initially had a less physical meaning but this meaning changed with time to incorporate all sorts of conflict.
The base of the word is the verb or noun quarrel, this is a verb especially used in Britain and describes an angry dispute or altercation or a cause of dispute or hostile feeling. It can also be used instead of a wrangle or disagreement and can describe the end of a friendship.
A quarrel can be anything from a large disagreement to a tiny issue. For example, a small domestic quarrel or a bar room quarrel. There is a large difference between the two.
In many phrases the verb you use when quarrel is a noun is to pick a quarrel.
A quarrel is also the name for a 13th century crossbow used in France.
It initially had a less physical meaning but this meaning changed with time to incorporate all sorts of conflict.

Quarrelsome is an adjective describing a person or people who like to quarrel - to quarrel means to argue/disagree in an aggressive, angry way. If we have different opinions and express them, we are just arguing, but if we get angry and start calling each other names, threatening each other or whatever, we are quarrelling. If you like to do this a lot, you are quarrelsome! Hope this helps.
