A Tammy is also known as a tam. A tam is a woolen cap which was originally made in Scotland.

Tammy is also the nickname of the country singer and songwriter Virginia Wynette Pugh. She was popularly known as Tammy Wynette, the first lady of country music. She was born near the city of Tremont in the state of Mississippi in the United States of America on May 5, 1942 and died at the age of 55 on April 6, 1998.
