What does Pootsie mean?
I actually found several definitions for the word Pootsie. One, strangely, is a girl's name! I honestly have never heard that one used, and I would hope that mothers all over the world avoid that one!
Other meanings are as follows:
- A nickname (nice/cute term) for someone who is smart and does well at school. "That pootsie is amazing at math."
- A fart - yes apparently "Who just pootsied" is a term that is used. I have to say that (thankfully) I have never heard it though.
- Similar to the above really but meaning a bad smell in general "That cabbage is pootsie".
- Someone who is mean or grumpy "Hey Connor, why are you being pootsie today".
I have heard Pookie used as a cute pet name (nickname) and in fact it is the name of Garfield's teddy bear, but pootsie is actually a term I have never personally used - maybe I should start!
