The term principality also known as princedom on the whole is a monarchical feudatory or self-governing state, governed or ruled by a Kingdom with the designation of prince or princess, or a ruler with an additional designation within the generic use or the expression prince.

Quiet a few have never been a real polity, but purely a territorial denomination in chief of which a princely approach is kept, with or at times even without reticent estate or income, together which may even be remote of the geographical limits of principality.

Till date existing sovereign principalities are Liechtenstein, Monaco as well as the co-principality of Andorra. Present imperial primogeniture's mannered principalities comprise of Asturias and Wales. This expression is at times even applied as a generic expression for any monarchy.
