The word 'oligo' means just a few or scanty. Oligo is a Greek word. The word is used as a prefix with many words. For example: Oligodactyl (a condition in which is marked by too few fingers). Oligohydraminos represents the condition which shows too little amniotic fluid. Thus, you can now guess the meaning of Oligospermia. The condition of producing too few sperms is termed Oligospermia. The number of sperms in the ejaculate of a male is very less than the normal.

There are many terms that use oligo as a prefix. Oligo-ovulatory describes a woman who has infrequent ovulation. There are nucleotides termed 'oligonucleotides'. They have twenty or fewer base pairs. Nucleotides are the basic unit that form the RNA and the DNA (molecule responsible for heredity and the characteristics of an individual)
