The word Neapolitan is used to mean a person who is native or an inhabitant of the city of Naples in the southern part of Italy. Neapolitan means of or something which pertains to or is characteristic of the Italian city of Naples or its people.

Neapolitan is also a term which has a sexual connotation. Vanilla sex is a term which refers to what a society considers to be standard sex or normal sex. The term vanilla sex has different connotations to different people living in different cultures and sub-cultures. The basic definition of the concept of vanilla sex, however, is that form of sex which does not involve such elements as BDSM, kink or fetish activities.

In the card game bridge, Neapolitan is a system which was devised by Eugenio Chiaradia. It has been played successfully at several World Championship events by players such as Pietro Forquet, Guglielmo Siniscalco, Massimo D'Alelio and Benito Garozzo. Garozzo revised the Neapolitan system in the year 1965 and renamed it the Blue Team Club system.
