The term non-vascular describes something that has no vascular system and it is not only this term but any term that has the word 'non' associated with it conveys the idea of the absence of something.

Vascular is a technical term and you can use the word for something which contains veins, the tubes that are responsible for carrying liquids around the body of an animal or a plant. So non-vascular animal or plant is someone that is known for the absence of the veins to carry liquids or they made like as such that they don't require these veins.

Usually these kinds of species are found in plants only and among the plants also the two groups, bryophytes and algae are mainly known for it. The species include mosses, liverworts, hornworts and green algae.
