Magnum means Ms. Magnum Hope White and thats me!
The term magnum is associated with fire arm cartridges, the most famous one being .357 magnums and .44 magnums. The .357 Magnum revolver cartridges were invented by Elmer Keith, Phillip Sharpe and firearm producers Smith and Wesson. The cartridge was launched in the year 1934 and since then has been widely used and is quiet popular.
The .357 Magnum was created over the period of years in the mid 1930s as an answer to Colt's .38 Super Automatic. Around that period the .38 super Automatic was the sole pistol cartridge available which could defeat automobile cover as well as the initial bullet-proof vests which had just been introduced after the World War I phase.
While talking about accuracy, the .357 has the same potential for accurate shooting as the standard .38 special wad cutter round
