Cilia is a small organelle which is found in the eukaryotic cells. These are tail like projections of about 5-10 micrometer in size. There are two types of cilia including motile cilia(beats in a single direction) and non-motile cilia(serve as sensory organs). In the small organisms like paramecium cilia are very important and act as the locomotory organs of the organism. Cilia are also found in some plants but these are very rare in plants. Cycads have cilia and they use them for locomotion over the surface of the water.
