Hemi is a pattern of internal-combustion engines in which the container head's ignition compartment is of semi-circular form. The expression, "Hemi engine" is a trade name of Chrysler Corporation, despite the fact that the conception is used by many producers. The examples of cars using hemi are BMW, Bristol cars; Peugeot 403, etc are among the famous ones.
The semi-circular or hemispherical ignition compartment plan puts the intake/drain regulator in-line, somewhat side-by-side, permitting enhanced flow of air in the course of the head. The ignite plug or the spark plug in the middle of the chamber creates for enhanced ignition of the fuel/air combination. These features help to create the hemi-type engine further competent and powerful, and lesser prone to engine blow.
