The word 'Llano' conveys the idea of plain and when the word is used in context it doesn't alter its meaning but remains the same. The word 'prairie' can be considered as the American counterpart of this word.

The word basically used for a grassy and almost treeless plain situated in the Latin America. In conjugation with 'Los' the word 'Los Llanos' is formed which means flat plains and when somebody uses the term he is referring to the plains situated in the east of Andes in the northwestern part of South America. The region mostly situated in the country of Colombia and Venezuela.

From the word 'Llano' we form the adjective 'Llaneros' for the people inhabiting the area and during the colonial regions these people herded millions of cattle in the area despite the adverse climate of the region.
