Misadventure means "a mishap or an accident." The synonyms of the word "misadventure" are casualty, misfortune, misfortune, calamity, catastrophe, disaster etc.

A misadventure which happens is not an act of intention. The law may hold a person committing an accident or a misadventure as suspect or guilty, but the punishment is not as severe as an intentional crime or homicide. Sometimes a loss suffered due to an error committed in the course of a project, also happens to be a misadventure. It is believed that the word entered popular English literature in the turn of the 13th century.

Here is a sentence with the word "misadventure" in it: The car turned turtle as it hit the pole near the highway, and one of the passengers lost his life in the misadventure.
