Tecumseh, whose precise name was thought to be Tecumtha or Tekamthi, was a well known Shawnee leader. He put into to use most of his time trying to rally different Native American tribes in a joint defence of their respective lands, which in the end led to his death during the War of 1812.
Tecumseh was highly regarded as well as respected during his time, and till date is taken as an icon by the Native Americans and is also measured as a national hero in Canada.
