The word "Oconomowoc" is actually a term used by the Native American People of "Pottawatomie". The term used by the natives was actually 'Coo-no-mo-wauk" and "Oconomowoc" was just a derivation of this. It meant that there was a waterfall somewhere in the vicinity or alternatively where waters meet.

There is a city called "Oconomowoc" located in the south east of the state of Wisconsin in Wisconsin County in the United States. The city has a population of less than twelve and a half thousand. Nearby one can find the town of Oconomowoc and the Oconomowoc Lake Village as well.

The first white man to settle the area of the city was Charles Sheldon way back in 1837. He had come to the area to build a log cabin. The natives however had already been active in the area they called "Coo-No-Mo-Wauk".
