The word "thumper" has two meanings. Thumper can be any instrument or person that produces a thumping sound. "Thump" is a stroke or blow which produces a sound. A thumper is a blunt object which creates such a sound. Some of the synonyms of the word thump are clunk, thud, pound, beat etc. In other words, a smashing shot by a batsman can be a thumper. Thumper can be the stick which one beats the drum with to produce music.

Thumper is also a single cylinder 4-stroke motorbike. The word is commonly used in the United States but the "thumper" is manufactured in Britain and Japan. Riding on a thumper is a feeling that cannot be explained.
