Omnivore is a classification of species of animals based on the eating habits. It comes from the two Latin words omne, which means all and vorare, which means to eat or to devour. Herbivorous animal eat only plant matter, and a carnivore is an animal that eats only meat. Omnivores are animals that eat both vegetation and animal products. Being an omnivore, however, does not necessarily mean that the animal would eat both plants and meat in the same quantity.

The jaw of a human being is suited to eating both meat and plant products, as it has sharp cutting teeth (incisors and canines) and flat grinding teeth (molars). Some common examples of omnivorous animals includes some species of fish, various types of mammals, pigs, bears, many types of primates, including human beings, some species of rodents, including rats, mice, squirrels and chipmunks, opossums, raccoons, foxes, some species of birds including rails, rhea, most kinds of gulls, crows, chickens, and household pigeons.

Humans are omnivores. It means we can exist by eating plants and/or animals. A carnivore needs meat but an omnivore can live without meat as man can, in fact being a vegetarian has been proved to be healthier for man
