The word "Edison" has several meanings. The name "Edison" means "blessed guard" or "rich guard" in old English. The word was glamorized as the last name of the famous scientist, Thomas Elva Edison, who was credited with inventing numerous devices and instruments including the incandescent electric light (the light bulb), the microphone, and the phonograph. The man was also instrumental in developing inventions like the motion picture camera and the typewriter.

Edison is a popular community in the Middlesex County of New Jersey. It is famous as the fifth largest municipality of New Jersey. Edison is also the name of lunar crater lying on the moon at the far side. The crater lying on the north east part of the moon is not visible easily but it is observed on a much detailed basis by virtue of a space craft.
