A saint is a person who is considered holy. He accepted as a saint through canonization. In some religions a person accepted as holy by majority of the population is termed a saint. The name Anthony has a Latin origin and means worthy of praise. Saint Anthony is also known by various other names like: Saint Anthony the Anchorite, Saint Anthony of Egypt, the Father of All Monks, Saint Anthony Abbot and Saint Anthony of Desert.

Saint Anthony was one of the Christian monks or Desert Fathers of the Egyptian Desert. He lived in the Third and Fourth centuries. People pray to Saint Michael when affected with infectious diseases, especially herpes zoster (shingles). Saint Anthony founded Christian Monasticism. Major shrines of Saint Anthony are found in Vienna and Austria.
