A subscript is said to be the number or figure or a type of an indicator that normally appears below the normal line of type. These subscripts very commonly used in chemical formulas, or for the description of a chemical compound. The subscripts are also used in various mathematical expressions. One of the most famous examples of a subscript is the molecular formula of water H2O.
