To scorn is a verb which means to look down upon someone with utter disdain or to openly show disrespect to someone. Scorn is usually accompanied by a feeling of intense hatred or dislike for the person. To verb to scorn also means to reject. The words that are closest in meaning to the word scorn are the words contempt, disdain, disrespect, derision, scornfulness, disparagement and ridicule. The antonym of the word scorn is admiration.

Scorn is a one-man project. It was launched by Mick Harris. Harris is the former drummer of the band Napalm Death. Much of the musical output on Scorn comprises minimalist beats. The emphasis is on very deep basslines, and the structure often resembles the dub and trip-hop musical genres.

Despite these resembles, Scorn is often associated with industrial and experimental music. It is considered a rare example of a successful industrial or downtempo crossover artist. Scorn is recorded in Harris' home studio, which was known as the box.
