Niece is derived via the Middle English and Old French word, and finally from the Latin word 'neptis'. Niece is the singular form while the plural form is nieces.

Niece is a term that is used in relationships; a daughter of someone's brother is considered to be a fraternal niece. A daughter of someone's sister is a sororal niece. And last in terms of relation a daughter of someone's brother-in-law or even a daughter of someone's sister-in-law.

No, your niece would be your brother or sisters daughter. The child of your aunt or uncle would be your cousin.

Who needs the real definition?! When you can act it!Just go up to some one, and say they look great, or don't yell at some people. It's quite easy, and let me tell you, be nice to one person, they will return the favor to others also!

Niece I think means the daughter of your aunt or uncle, and nephew means the son of your aunt or uncle.
