'To make my way', or to make one's way refers to going in a certain way or towards a fixed destination. For example, "I will make my way to the meat section", or "How will I ever make my way through this crowded street".

The first ever usage of this particular phrase was documented around the year 1400.

It also has a less literal and more metaphorical connotation if used in a different context. For example, "it is time to make your own way in the world". Here it refers to progressing in life through one's own actions and efforts.
