Franking basically is the process of marking of mail by a corporation or government which gives free or cheap postage facilities, or the handiness of distribution bulk mail without using customary postage stamps.

There are various types of franking the first one being franking privilege, given to particular elected officials by a government; it is the facility of sending mails for free. A person who has the franking privilege just puts his signature or facsimile to the upper right corner of a package or letter in place of a postage stamp.

The second type of franking is private franking; this is usually done in businesses, they frank mail with the help of franking machine, permitting them to put their logo, advertising message or the return address it the section where a stamp would usually be. These machines have a particular precise amount of prepaid postage.
