Boyle is the last name of Robert Boyle. Boyle was a chemist who hailed from the Republic of Ireland. He was born in the year 1627 and died at the age of 64 in the year 1691. He propounded the Boyle's Law. The Boyle's Law states that air has weight. The definitions given by Boyle for various chemical elements and chemical reactions helped to understand chemistry better as Boyle's definitions separated chemistry from the scientific discipline called alchemy. Boyle is also the last name of the American writer Kay Boyle, who was born in the year 1902 and died at the age of 90 in the year 1992.

Boyle is also a lunar impact crater. It is located on the rugged far side of the Moon. The boyle crater is located in the southern hemisphere. It is situated adjacent to a larger crater called Hess, which is located to the southeast. It lays approximately midway between Alder crater to the north-northeast and Abbe crater to the south-southwest. Jim Boyle is a slang nickname for an ecologist with impeccably good character.
