"To Be Rather Than To Seem"

I don't think it needs any further explanation.

This is my old school motto which we were told to meant  "Sincerity of Purpose" -  which I think interprets well to to the literal translation

The translation of Esse Quam Videri in English is 'To be How Videri'. Now you can tell your friends what does this really mean.

I'm not a Latin scholar by any stretch of the imagination, but I know that the phrase, 'Esse Non Videri' on my high school ring means 'To be and not to seem', so you could infer from this that your phrase actually might mean, 'To be how you seem'.
