The name David is though to be very ancient indeed.
It was first used in Mesopotamia- the first human civilization founded in the valley between the Euphrates and Tigris river (in what is modern-day Iraq).
Nowadays, almost every single language on earth has a native derivative or version of this name.
Where does the name David come from?
The name David appears in Hebrew, Arabic, Aramaic, and pretty much every language associated with the birth of the three main Abrahamic religions.
Through this origin, it now appears in every modern-day language I can think of (and probably also a few I can't).
In the US, David is the 2nd most popular name in the country, and a number of notable figures have shared this name (David Bowie and David Beckham are the first two that come to mind).
In Hebrew, the name David is thought to mean 'the beloved' or 'beloved by God'- and in the Bible, the name David is mentioned over 1000 times! (even though there's only one David in the entire book).
