Where Does My Last Name Come From? My Last Name Is Poland

My mother is a Poland and our ancestors are from Lanark in Scotland. The earlier history we've found of the the Poland Name was a Betsy Poland in the late 1600's in church records. We've never figured out where the name came from but have suspected it was a spelling mistake of Pollard. We also understand there were three brothers who left Scotland, one going to America, one to New Zealand and my direct ancestor came to Australia.

Poland is english word for country in europe. In polish it is Polska.

Do not really know. I have the same problem. My last name is Poland too.

My family thinks its a English name but we could be wrong.

Poland in Polish language is Polska. Poland is definitely not a Polish word, I'm guessing English or Dutch
