The word pathologist is used as a noun and it describes a kind of professional, mostly a doctor, who studies pathology and also examines dead bodies to determine the cause of the death of the person.

Pathologists play a very vital role in the profession of medicine as it is they who determine the cause of a disease or even which disease prevailed in the person's body. As every doctor wants to determine the exact cause of a disease and only then he would like to prescribe a drug, he first gets the pathological test done with a pathologist which makes his tasks a bit easy. You can find the people of this profession in every hospital and even in private clinics pathologists are mandatory to run the medical profession smoothly.

The word pathology can be used as a noun and you can use the term for the scientific study of a disease. The following sentence can make the meaning of the term quite clear as it is used in the context: If you think that you have caught a disease you should get a pathology done as it is the only way you can determine the reason for your disease. In the above-mentioned sentence the person is suggesting somebody to get his disease tested so that the exact reason of the problem can be determined and accordingly a medicine can be prescribed.

Sometimes the word is also used to describe about the behaviour of a person which is considered as unreasonable but even the person has no control over his own behaviour.
