When the RADAR is able to pick something out in its range the object appears on the Radar screen as a little object that is reflecting the Radar waves. This blinking of any object on the Radar screen is referred to as a pip. RADAR stands for Radio Direction and Range. It is used to determine and fix the location, speed and direction of moving and stationary objects on a map by using radio waves.
The device is particularly better at determining these factors for objects that scatter radio waves like those made of metal or carbon fiber. Hence aircrafts and ships are easy to spot using radar. Radars are used today for air traffic control and for military use. They are also employed in shipping.
