Leather is nothing but the skin or hiding of an animal like a goat or cow with its original tough structure remaining more or less intact Coated leather means leather with a surface coating in the form of a glue or finishing applied with the condition that the coating or layering should not exceed more than one third of the total thickness of the product or should not be more than 0.15mm.

Many prefer things made of coated leather because it makes the object look beautiful and it is easy to maintain too. All you have to do is clean the object with a damp cloth to get rid of the dust or dirt. The surface of the coated leather or the "bycast leather" has a film of colored polyurethane. Though being used a lot in handbags and belts, the coated leather is also known to be used now in quite a few furniture articles as well.
