Since the answer was given but not explained I'll add a little info. The word 'hope' or 希 pronounced 'Xi' has different meanings as it does in English. It can be a noun or a verb. It needs the 2nd symbol 望 pronounced 'wang' meaning; 'wish' to describe its meaning.
