It means that truly meaningful discovery doesn't come from learning new things... But from discovering new aspects of things already familiar to us... Looking at life with a new perspective.

We have all heard of the phrase “beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.” You might have also wondered why some people do not like the things that you love. It depends a lot on the observer and his/her personal characteristics. This means that each person looks at things differently and has different levels of observation; they pay more attention to certain aspects. The problem with us is that we just look at things but do we actually see? I think not. For example you may pass by the same street everyday without even noticing the things around you because you believe it to be a part of the routine. We do not actually see things in detail, we look at them and we forget, not retaining much to our memory.

People often go to spend their holidays to places far away from home to see something new when they do not even pay attention to their surroundings. The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes means that when we change out mindset and tray to take in the details of the things and people that we see every day, we can discover a lot. Even if we go to a new place we will not learn much because we do not observe closely. If you observe the same thing with patience than you will uncover so many things that you id not know before.

It means that the real transformation in human beings takes place when we realize that other people, places and things are usually not the problem; we are. Although some things in life do need changing, in general, things are fine the way they are - it is our judgements and negative attributions that create hell on earth more than any other factor.

I think it kinda means seeing things in a different way, ie not changing what you're looking at but the way you see it.

This was once used to break my heart and all it really means is if you want to change things just look at things differently...but what you think you see could be a fake...use your  instincts and you will know if something is worth changing...in my case I forgot what a beautiful landscape I already had...

"if you think there is more to discover in life than what you already have, if you are not ready to committ and think that you are not done discovering life, think again, because you will soon find out that finding someone else is not the true path to discovery, instead looking at what you have through different eyes and realizing that even tho it might be not as exciting anymore for this particular time, you have something great...if you could only open your eyes and see..."

This Marcel Proust quote is about discovery. You can interpret it to other things but it starts with discovery. Then it mentions new lands, as in exploration... Colonial period and global empires...you know where this leads.  So you can say then that real discovery (learning, growth, knowledge) is not a path of expansion and searching outward, but of expanding one's mind to take other viewpoints and truly appreciate (and understand) the world around us and everything in it.

It means to view the world from a varied perspection. Things are obvious and alright, as it should had been. It is our point of view that should be changed. Landscapes are just for viewing, but there is lot that can be viewed. Visiting places for its beauty and attraction isn't enough. We should be creative in our thoughts and have a different sort of view about nature and it's bounty.
