As I found in www.babynames.com Harry comes from Harold and both mean "the Army ruler".
And Henry comes from Heinrich and both mean "the ruler of the Home".

Harry is an alternative form of the name "Henry".

According to www.babynames.com, the name Henry is German in origin and means "Ruler of the Home".  This is probably why it was such a popular name for English kings.  Eight of them have been called Henry, the last one being the infamous Henry VIII who divorced two of his six wives and executed another two.

Henry VIII was also called "Harry" and "Hal", and I believe the name "Harry" originated with him.  It started because the English loved their handsome, charming young king for the first twenty or so years of his reign and wanted a pet name for him.

"Old Harry" is also a somewhat disrespectful name for the Devil, perhaps on account of how vicious, corrupt and murderous Henry VIII became in his old age.

A very popular male name, Harry is pronounced HARE-ee. The English version of the French pronunciation of Henry (aw-REE), meaning home or house protector. Also can be a diminutive of Harold meaning Army commander. It is the nickname of Prince Henry, son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana of Wales.

In the US, may be used in homage to President Harry S. Truman. Fictional character Harry Potter has also influenced the name. Actor Harry Belafonte; US Supreme Court Justice Harry A. Blackmun; magician Harry Houdini.

Nicknames of the name Harry include Hal.

This is completely false. Why would the English get anything from the French.
Most English names come from either Greek or Latin origins. Harry comes from the Greek Saint Charalambos.
