The exact meaning of the name is unknown but it might have been derived from the Greek word for 'safe'. In Greek mythology, Artemis was a goddess, twin sister of Apollo and daughter of Zeus. She was the goddess of the moon, of the hunt, of wild animals, and of fertility.
The name Artemis is un-known but what little we know about her name it means "Maiden" or "Huntress". Artemis had a twin brother named Apollo, who's name meant "Father light" or "Keeper of the Sun". Artemis is the goddess of maiden's, hunt, wild thing's and the moon. As for Apollo he was the god of the the sun, healing, music, poetry, bachelors's and more.
