A cur is a dog of mixed breed that is considered inferior and undesirable. When used as an insult, a cur means a cowardly or despicable person. Mixed breed dogs can be referred by many names and not just as curs, Tykes and mongrels and mutts. In Hawaii they are known as poi dogs and in the Bahamas, as Pot Cakes.
Mixed breed dogs can come in any weight, size and colour. Most often their colour is light brown. Their size tends to be between their parents and body shapes, tails and ear shapes are unpredictable. A mixed breed with extreme characteristics like a very curly tail or a flattened face often proves to be sterile and does not breed.
