Reasoning refers to the use of reason and logic in the formation of judgement, conclusions and inferences. It can also refer to the use of facts and evidence in arguments or thinking. Reasoning refers also to the capacity to reason. Two forms of reasoning that are used to reach a conclusion are inductive reasoning and deductive reasoning. There are three distinct areas in which forms human beings are capable of reasoning, they being logical reasoning, mathematical reasoning and non-logical reasoning. Inductive and deductive reasoning are types of logical reasoning. Non logical reasoning is related to linguistics and language etc. Religion, culture and other such factors also probably figure into non logical form of reasoning. Something that is the opposite of reasoning can be defined as being nonsense or irrational.
