It is offensive when a person / creature in reality uses another person as a "doormat" so to speak walking all over them as if they are useless or as nothing or as a lower form to manipulate. Dignity gives a person meaning as worth existing / purpose and a sense that a creator of the universe made human beings to be great or great enough to believe in themself to create beauty / some style / all in what you make of it.
