Emory is the name of a city. It is based in the Rains County in the Texas State of United States. This city is also the county seat for Rains County. Springville was the previous name pf this place. Later on its name was changed and its present name was derived after Emory Rains. He was a great legislator from this area.

Homestead Law of Texas was written by Emory Rains. This was used as a reference for the protection of homesteads not only in Texas but in entire United States. The city was renamed Emory through voting by the citizens of Rains county by a special legislation. It had a population of 1,021 residents according to the 2000 census. This place has a total area of 4.0 sq km and is home to Rains Independent School District.
