In the business environment, an internal conflict is the disagreement which occurs inside the organization. It is fighting within an entity compared to external conflict which occurs with the outside stakeholders.

In literature however, internal conflict is defined as a struggle that takes place in the character's mind through which he reaches a new understanding or a dynamic change.

My answer would be the conflict that is going on inside the characters head.
Or the troubles/worries that the character faces within his/hers self.
