Rationalization is a process in psychology that constructs a logical justification for a certain decision that originally arrived through a different mental process. It can also refer to rationalization in hypnosis, for observing a suppressed post hypnotic command. In psychology this process can be taken over in a fully conscious state rather than the subconscious state. Rationalization is also one of the main defence mechanisms that were proposed by Sigmund Freud, his theories were later developed by Sigmund Freud's daughter Anna Freud.
